My students attend a California Charter School in rural Northern California. Nearly all are children of military members, some of their parents are stationed at the nearby military base and others are living in the area while their military parent is deployed. This year our Science class is focusing on the Life Sciences. We are currently learning about the human body and are getting ready to begin lessons on plants, birds and insects. Our area offers opportunities to be part of nature's classroom and we have field trips planned to a local wildlife area and vernal pools. My student scientists are eager to get outside and make their own observations and investigations. The human skeleton model would be instrumental in introducing students to the human anatomy. The field microscopes would allow students to conduct accurate examinations of samples immediately while still in the field and the Nook reader would be used to research and verify findings.
