I teach Art in a two elementary schools. My students love art but have very little exposure to museums or galleries. Art instruction takes place in their classrooms for thirty minutes a week. My goal is to encourage individuality and and provide an opportunity for self expression. I use beautifully illustrated literature or prints of artists work to introduce lessons. The children love stories about the lives of artists particularly those who have dealt with challenges and adversity. I wish my students had more time for art and a proper art room but since this is not the case we try to use our time well. I remind them during every class to "Be here now"
