The best thing a student can read about are wonderful people like themselves. It builds a sense identity in knowing the up's and down's of a young person can be challenging but more importantly, rewarding. The most wonderful thing about my students is the diversity of children of color. They bring with them a wealth of knowledge. However, the one thing they have in common is their dreams of becoming the best person they can be. Many have dreams of business ownership, law, technology design. The books i chose were to specifically speak to the minds of my very much diverse population of student. The specific selection will be placed in arms reach. The books also will drive discussions on bias, racism, and adversity. Along with this discussion will be tools and strategies to know that they are great people, they come from great people and as future leaders, they carry the torch for the future of this world.
