Although the students at my school would be considered economically disadvantaged (96% of our population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch), I do not think that they see themselves in that way. I feel that they are brimming with optimism and potential, and they are ready to take on all of life's opportunities. One of the best opportunities that they have at their disposal is access to the teachers at our school. The teachers at our school are on another level. They provide an unparalleled zest for teaching and a willingness to sacrifice much of their personal time (and oftentimes money as well) in order to help these students achieve academic excellence and self-actualization. The administration at our school has crafted a vision that few people would think possible. But despite all doubts, our students are rising to meet the challenge. On the whole, our students are outperforming neighboring middle schools, as well as many of the more economically advantaged school in the district.
