I am a music teacher and I travel to 5 different schools. The school that I am requesting instruments is a fairly new school. There are about 700 students attending this school. Unfortunately, I'm only able to reach about 100 of the students with music instruction. The school is located in a lower socioeconomic area in the northern part of the city of Los Angeles. Most of the students receive free or reduced lunch. There are many second language learners struggling to learn English. I currently teach Kindergarten to 4th Grade. My students are an excitable bunch. They love coming to music. When it's time to end the lesson, I sometimes hear a collective groan. They don't want music to end.
