Many of my students are part of an international program called AVID - Advancement Via Individual Determination. The mission statement of AVID is, "to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society." While there is no such thing as a "typical" AVID student, a common obstacle for many is limited access to economic resources. We require our students to organize and maintain a binder with assignments, notes and study materials. Because our program stresses note-taking and organization, it is vital for students to have access to their own supplies, in class and at home. This project will allow me to provide pencil pouch supplies for 100 students.
