My students are in grade K. They attend a California public school. This school is considered low-income which means funds are scarce. I have 8 students in our English language development program, one of whom just came to this country and whose English language development is extremely limited. We also have very little technology at our academic disposal. All of my students love to learn. They are constantly asking for new grade-level appropriate books and technology to read and keep reading entertaining and new. Both my students and parents work really hard in practicing phonemic awareness and high frequency words at home. Adding another fun form of learning language could help those students still struggling to make the connection. They literally count the days between their scheduled library time, which sadly comes but once every two weeks. It would be a dream come true to not only them, but myself too, if DonorsChoose could make their literary/technology dreams come true .
