Many of my students come from foster homes and homeless shelters. They live in a housing project that is opposite to the school. It's a large depressing urban dwelling that lacks any thing soft and inviting. There are no pretty flowers or trees, just hard gray concrete. Many of my students parents are currently in jail. Nine of my eighteen students have a parent that is currently in jail. My students always come to school happy and excited to learn new things. They are respectful and very generous of spirit. If ever I have a heavy box to carry, they rush to help me. They are the most wonderful children imaginable, I seldom hear them complain about not having the things they need. They go through life happy to be children in the world.
