Great Lakes Academy provides trajectory-changing education for K-2nd grade scholars from the greater South Shore neighborhood. Through ambitious academic instruction and intentional character education, our school utilizes each minute of the day to help our students grow. Our scholars demonstrate bravery, endurance, and enthusiasm as they tackle new problems, use critical thinking skills, and build their social skills. My role in the school is to partner with teachers to create opportunities for students to express their emotions, process trauma, build their executive function capacity, and improve their peer-to-peer relationships. Through the facilitation of whole class, small group, and individual sessions I am able to understand the emotional challenges and deficits of our students and target them with evidence-based interventions. GLA is a very special place to be and I am honored to be a part of this team!
