My class is very diverse in many ways. We have students with various ethnic, socioeconomic, and familial environments. This diversity brings so much wonderful background knowledge to our classroom and to our discussions. My students' interests are varied - some love Pokemon, others love drawing or sports. The one thing my students do seem to have in common is a love of reading. They love to listen to read alouds and read independently as well. They truly can get caught up in a great book and swept away which is wonderful to see as their teacher.
