One of the things that we learn in Kindergarten is how to sort by various attributes. The ability to determine and describe how things are alike and different is an important skill related to future success and understanding of various mathematical skills. While this may seem simple, it is a skill that is learned through practice. These buttons, counters, and other material will give my students a chance to practice sorting using fun and engaging objects. I can envision them sorting the vehicles by what travels on land, air and sky and sorting the fruit by peel or no peel, seeds or no seeds. I am sure that the students will come up with many other fun attributes to sort by.
