I teach first grade to 20 hard-working students in an economically disenfranchised community. We are a Title 1 high-poverty elementary school where all students receive free meals. The majority of my students come from families who recently immigrated from Mexico and Central America. This puts my students at a disadvantage when it comes to performing at grade level in standardized tests. My goal is to lay a solid foundation by giving my students all support possible so that they may acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the rest of their educational careers. Hands-on technology will make lessons more engaging for my students and will allow me to teach abstract ideas in a visually appealing format.
