I am a Kindergarten teacher in a low income area of Chicago. Because of the income level many of my student's parents do not have the ability to help their child become passionate about reading. The students love when I do a read aloud in class. Many of them ask for me to read their favorite stories over and over again. From a home survey I know that most of my students do not have books at home and many of them don't have someone to read to them on a regular basis. Another teacher that I know mentioned how beneficial it was to have the LeapPads in her class room. The students love to use them and they can listen to their favorite stories over and over again.
