We are a high school robotics team that consists entirely of minority students (approximately 15 young men and 9 young women) that compete head to head on a special playing field with robots that we design, build, and program. We’re part of the FIRST Robotics program. We are better known as the Iron Wolves TEAM 2709. As being a part of FIRST robotics, our team competes head to head with other robots from around the state and country. On Saturday, January 9, 2016, the new game and playing field are unveiled and FIRST teams receive a Kickoff Kit made up of donated items and components and only limited instructions. Students have six weeks to design, build, program, and test their robot to meet the season’s engineering challenge. Once we build a robot, we will participate in the Midwest Regional event to measure the effectiveness of our robot.
