My students are elementary special education students who live on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. Their struggle with language is because of their disabilities and because many of them are English language learners. My students are up against a lot in their learning-- they have speech and language impairments, developmental delays, autism, intellectual disabilities, and specific learning disabilities. But despite these challenges, they are wonderful students with an incredible potential.
