I teach in the last remaining laboratory school in Alabama. We serve as a model school for our local university's education department, working to implement new strategies and molding them to fit the needs of our kids. We have a diverse group of students with varying ranges of ability. I teach students that receive special education services and students with an IQ higher than my own. My students are curious and love to learn. I work to foster an environment that will give the kids a break from day to day classroom activities and allow them some time to use their brains and hands to create. My school is amazing, however we often fall through the "funding crack." We receive limited funding from the university and a small amount of funding from our school system. As the librarian, I receive no funding. I rely on donations and hope there is money left over in my school's budget.
