I teach an eager and aspiring group of first and second grade students at a Title I school in Southern California. They are a diverse group of students from different ethnic backgrounds, and over half of my students are learning English as a second language. My school has been working alongside a number of other schools in the district to make lasting educational reform for the last four years, however, it has also been hit quite hard with budgets, and spending cuts, like so many other schools in the state. Although there has been progress each year for the last four years, continued reform and achievement is exceedingly difficult without properly funded resources.
