My students are great kids when you get to know them. They take pride in their work and try their best. They don't have a lot so it is up to us to show them what opportunities are available for them. They can take the skills from my class and make something of their future. They deserve a chance. Several live on their own and struggle every day. They are in the 8th and 9th grade and have learned to cope with so much and make due with what they are given.
