The teacher makes the difference. As an educator I strive to make a difference in the lives of the students that I teach. One way in which I feel I can make a difference is to get my students excited about reading. I believe that all children can learn. Most people think that a special needs student is incapable of learning much less developing a passion for reading. I am a sixth grade special education teacher in an inclusion class in a low income district. Unfortunately the only press my district gets is negative. My students believe that as a class we can turn this around by improving our reading skills by taking a bite out of a just right book from our classroom library.
