Some children don't have basic technology available to them at home, but we cannot let that hinder their education. In our city, our students are striving for success everyday regardless of their circumstances. Each autumn, my students come to me a little more tech savvy than the previous group. I can almost see the digital divide shrinking a little every year! My students have already demonstrated their ability to surpass my expectations when given the tools, guidance, and opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge beyond paper and pencil assessments. They are curious children who are most successful when engaged in highly interesting activities. They gain a deeper understanding of key concepts with hands on learning and tangible ways to demonstrate their critical thinking skills. Creating photo stories and digital story telling helps them do just that.
