We are a Title I public middle school, with most of our students qualifying for free lunch. Over half of our kids live in housing projects down the street. Many do not have books in their homes, or even a dictionary. Immersion into reading has not been a part of their lives, and yet reading opens up both the mind and heart. We are fighting ever-shortening attention spans, and reading helps settle yet stimulate the brain. Reading for pleasure improves vocabulary and writing skills that will last a lifetime. Join me in supporting our young people. Thank you kindly!
