I teach 8th grade science, with a special education focus for 2 out of 3 class periods, in a high-need, public school. Our students are among the hardest working in Washington DC. Despite coming in many grade levels behind in math and reading, by the time they are in the eighth grade over 90% of our students are at or above grade level.
