My students live in the inner city of a large urban area. Some are coming to school for the first time, others went to pre-school. My students are enthusiastic about learning, but sometimes get frustrated when they can't see the activity book or chart that they are supposed to be copying from. Our school has had a lot of success in teaching our 5 year olds how to read and write, but with so many students now in each classroom it is getting more difficult for them to achieve such success. My students need the opportunity to form a strong basis of knowledge so that they can succeed when they leave here in one year. I would like them to be reading and writing with beautiful penmanship when they leave our school to enter first grade.
