My students will tell you everything you want to know about their families, blocks and neighborhoods around Washington, DC. They just started fifth grade in our Title I Charter School with goals of reading Harry Potter; writing the next Diary of a Wimpy Kid; and solving the toughest problems in math class. My students and their parents spend extra time working through, over and around the obstacles, ranging from ADHD to reading disabilities, which have led them to my Special Education class.
