I teach at a Title 1 school, which means that most of our students are low-income and by association, high risk. Daily, we struggle to ensure that our students are cared for, clothed appropriately, and fed. Economically, things are tough for them, but this hasn't stopped them from having huge hearts which is frequently shown through their love for music. Our school has a large interest in music, with an after school orchestra, an active recorder program, and over 600 students that take music every week. Music helps them build their confidence and helps them expand their worldview beyond just our small community, but outside to countries they may never get to visit. Unfortunately, we don't have a budget to fund new technological adventures for my students in music. Technology is how this generation of students learns, and with this grant, I can fulfill their learning needs and make music fun and accessible!
