My students are 6th, 7th and 8th graders from low-socioeconomic communities. I currently serve a diverse population of students from multiple cultures. My students face many challenges in their lives. Some are in foster care, many are growing up in single mother households, and some even have to work to help support their family. For many of my students they will be the first in their family to attend high school in the United States. Despite these challenges, they attend school on a regular basis and are trying to accomplish their goals of maintaining good grades and attending high school.
