My students are amazing kids who fill their school with good energy. Some may not walk, some may not talk, some may not hear or some may not see very well, but they all contribute to their school by teaching other students about being friends with people who are different. Most general ed students stop seeing my students' disabilities after they get to know them. My students are well known in their school and are mainstreamed daily into general ed classrooms, recess and lunch. They attend a public elementary school. They carry with them the message of hope and are capable of learning more than most people think.
