My students are located in a low income , Title One School, in this area students live in single parent homes, substance abuse parents, abused, and sharing rooms with more than one sibling. The school is very warming to these students, the culture is family oriented. They are given free breakfast and lunch since this may be the only meal they will receive until the next day. They are well mannered children, you can't help but love them, very humble and thirsty to read a book. Since the students I teach has cognitive and processing problems it takes more direct instruction for them to learn. They would have to hear and see a strategy 100 times before they learn it, unlike the students in the general education room who can hear it one time and apply the skills they have learned to the classroom work and real life.
