I teach 8th grade science at a low-income public school in north Texas. More than half of my students are 'English Language Learners,' some of whom have only been in the United States for a few years. I had the privilege of working with this group of students last year as their 7th grade science teacher, and I was blown away by the amount of progress we made during our time together. The curiosity and enthusiasm my students have for the subject was incredibly inspiring on a daily basis. At the end of May, I was not ready for my students to leave my classroom. Instead of making all of them repeat 7th grade a second time, I decided to move up to 8th grade with them! I am incredibly excited to have another year with my amazing students to continue our progress and growth.
