My school is set in the middle of apartment complexes in the middle of a city. Most of my students come from one parent homes who work very hard to provide for my students. The school that I work out provides free or reduced lunch for 94% of the school. A good percentage of my kids show up to school an hour before school starts because that is the only time they can get to school and we provide free breakfast for the entire building. The teachers are not provided with a budget to purchase materials for the students, making it expensive for me. I try my best to provide as much as I can for them, but it is difficult. My kids absolutely love when I incorporate technology into my lessons, especially laptops. We use a program called MegaMath that allows the students to play games while reviewing skills and concepts. They love this program. They would play at home if they had computers.
