I teach third graders in a community experiencing poverty. My students are eager to learn but are often far below grade level and struggle to meet the third grade benchmark. While their energy is unlimited and their potential great, they are still forced to navigate a world filled with violence and fear every day. Yet, despite these things they are bright, hilarious, and the joy of my life.
