My students come from rich, diverse backgrounds. However, many of the books available do no represent my students. My kindergartners should be able to see themselves and their communities in a positive way in the books they read. I will make these books accessible to them during read aloud, small groups and independent reading. I will use the books as mentor texts to promote conversations about identity. My students will be inspired with the stories in these books. This classroom library will be the heart of our classroom! Help my kindergartners dream big through the stories they read!
