Our school is a Title One school with a majority of first generation American students. We work hard to help all of our students achieve the American dream. The art room is a place where students can develop essential 21st Century skills of collaboration, critical thinking, communication and of course, creativity. These skills have been identified as the vital new "4 Cs" of learning for students to be productive citizens in the 21st century. My art room is the perfect place for my students to practice all of these skills. Art classes are large group instruction classes, so the size of classes extend from 48 to 60 students per class. I strive to allow each student the opportunity for individual exploration and expression using the art materials but teamwork and cooperation are just as essential. My art room is a place for students to feel freed from constraints of their classrooms while challenged by the open ended decision making of the creative process.
