Roosevelt is a school that struggles with poverty and all the problems that come with it. The bulk of our resources go to the critical core of reading and math where our students need the most help. Unfortunately this narrow focus taxes other programs such as our FIRST robotics team. Because of programs like No Child Left Behind programs that allow students to push the boundaries of their abilities in new and interesting directions are few and far between. If we are to improve graduation rate we need to give reasons for students to keep coming to school. We need to give them new and interesting opportunities to learn. A 3D printer would help provide those opportunities.
