My students are a diverse, sweet, excited, and wiggly bunch of 6th graders. They are a class that when inspired and encouraged can do amazing work. These 11-12 year olds have came from different elementary schools and have joined this classroom cohesively no matter their backgrounds. They have found many things in common through projects and assignments. Our middle school is a clean, safe environment with a great library but we lack in classroom resources and with 35 students we need classroom books to assist in learning. After our first English assessment it is safe to say that the students struggle with the elements of fiction and analyzing plot. I would love to read with them and address those standards while reading a great book. There minds are moldable and creative, and this is a crucial time for them to learn to love to read for fun and for school.
