My school is located on top of a tree covered hill in Los Angeles that is frequented by skunks, coyotes, and possums as night falls. It is an oasis! It is also a high performing school according to standardized testing scores. However, my students have great difficulty with open-ended questions, forming opinions that they are willing to share, and working as a group. To be successful in the future, students need to be able to think critically and creatively.
