Aloha! Welcome to Viewlands Elementary School! We are located on the trail head of one of Seattle's gems - Carkeet Park - legacy of orchards leading down Piper's Creek - a salmon filled stream to the sound. Our students enjoy the rich and abundant resources at our backdoor. Classrooms make the journey up and down the trail many times a year to observe and record changes and the many surprises. As the new teacher librarian, I am aware of the student's enthusiasm and realize that what's missing in our toolbox are iPads. When I went to find a video camera, we had none. We are hoping to fund a class set of iPads. They would travel throughout the school to be used by the teacher/classroom to make movies and document moments and events in a day. Movies of the salmon cycle, meeting our teachers for the first time throughout the school, family events, classroom projects on and on. Student created! Mahalo!
