My students come from a majority low income environment and don't often have the funds to explore learning beyond the classroom. They take care of family and work outside the home, so trips to the library tend to be limited. They will actively read at home if given the materials, but often we do not have the resources for more than a single class set. Not easy to distribute or use when you co-teaching 3-5 classes with the same book.
