Drama is a class where students learn the parts of the stage, read scripts, and perform in front of their peers, family, and community. They study fairy tales and perform fractured fairy tales for one of our units to build an ensemble and perform for the school and community. Students perform on stage and in open spaces where they need microphones and speakers to enhance their voices. We currently can only include 50 people in an audience, but with a speaker/sound system, we could triple our audience. We will use costumes and props to make the play come alive and give the he performers more confidence as they get lost in playing a character. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.6.1 I can show that I understand standard English in my speech and in my writing. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.6.1.B I can follow rules, set goals, meet deadlines and carry out my assigned role in shared discussions with peers. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.6.5 I can include multimedia (e.g., graphics, images, music or sound) and other displays to help me clarify information in my presentations. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.6.6 I can change my way of speaking for a variety of situations and tasks and show that I can use formal English when necessary and appropriate.
