My students attend a Minnesota public school and qualify for special programs in Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD, Grades 6-8) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD, Grades 6-8). We have numerous students who are working on their ability to keep their bodies ready to learn (self-regulation). I continue to seek ways to help my students recognize how they are feeling and as well as helping them feel safe and able to learn. This is called Social Emotional Learning and has been prioritized by the district as an area of instructional focus. My students also have sensory differences in how they perceive the world, which affect how well they can attend to learn. I continue to support students with equipment and strategies that address these differences within their classrooms.
