We are a very small school in a very rural county. We have one school district consisting of one elementary, one middle school, and one high school serving a high poverty population of 750 students. We have 2 stoplights in the whole county, and both of those are at the same intersection. We are a county of beauty with Huron-Manistee National Forest on the west and the shores of Lake Huron on the east. Although we are surrounded by natural beauty, our students often have not been exposed to these natural wonders as financial strains often keep families close to home. Urban experiences are also very limited, and many students know very little about what happens in a larger town or city.
