My students are like eager little sponges just waiting to soak up knowledge and yearning to be successful in every new challenge. Reading is a constant presence in our classroom every day. I not only stress the importance of reading in daily life, but also strive to make reading a "chosen" activity, rather than a "have to" requirement. Through my varied reading activities, I hope to create children that are strong, confident readers. My hope is that in their successful adult lives they will remember that love they had for a favorite picture book or perhaps the first chapter book they successfully read on their own and instill the importance of reading in their own children.
