My students are struggling readers who have difficulty sounding out words and comprehending text. They are working on improving their fluency as well as comprehension. With audio support, my students will be able to access grade level text and listen to strong models of fluent readers. This will allow them to practice using comprehension strategies they've learned without becoming frustrated with trying to sound out difficult words. The audio support will also help my students improve their fluency as they practice reading along. In addition to having difficulty in reading, many of my students speak a language other than English at home. For some students, this means they do not have access to an adult who can help them practice reading in English. With audio support, these students will be able to read along with a strong model using text written in English.
