My students love learning through the use of technology! We are blessed with six desktop computers to use in our classroom. We use these computers every day in reading, writing, and math. These student computers are ideal for small group time, when students can use them for specific, individualized instruction in nearly every subject. Unfortunately, though, with nearly every use, we have a problem with cords coming unplugged. With 20 small bodies wiggling and moving around the classroom, inevitably cords create problems. Cords fray, they break, they get tangled with the neighboring computer's cords...the list of issues cords and students can have is endless! When the students have problems with technology, instructional time is lost. The computer group can't work on their programs, my small group is interrupted to fix the problem, and it's a general distraction to the entire classroom when this occurs. With wireless computer accessories, students will gain time working on skills they need, and spend less time focusing on the headphones, mouse, or keyboard that is not working.
