I have 32 students on Individualized Education Plans in my Special Education classroom program as of today. 13 of them happen to be 5th graders who will transition into middle school next year. These students are diagnosed with learning disabilities and autism. These kids are amazing and special. They make me smile every day! I have been a special education teacher for 20 years and I must say this group is the best! They are creative and love school. Our school is a positive place to learn. I should know, I've worked here 20 years. My special kids are included in all aspects of school. Their teachers do an amazing job of giving them positive learning experiences in the classroom. They are pulled in and out of their regular class rooms each day yet they still find ways to include them in the room. Our school does an amazing job of modifying materials and accommodating kids in the classroom so they can have the fullest access to their education.
