My third graders can't get enough of books! They have become reading enthusiasts in the first couple months of school, and I couldn't be more excited. I teach third grade at a charter school in Chicago where 94% of my students come from high-poverty homes. Most of my students are reading below grade level because they have not been given opportunities to read enough at home. Nevertheless, they have already made such gains in their reading skills this year and I look forward to seeing their continued success as they emerge into fluent readers.
