After 20 years specializing in early childhood development & intervention, this year I mixed it up & moved to High School! I now work with students aged 14 - 21 with a variety of developmental needs - autism, cerebral palsy, medically fragile, learning disabled, medical syndromes, etc. I love the change and have found that while the kids are much bigger, they're still kids in many ways. My biggest struggle is to find activities that are age-appropriate yet developmentally appropriate (sometimes there's quite a ways between), while keeping things fun (motivation) and research-based (results). This project will allow me to use age/school-appropriate music selections with developmentally appropriate activities to grow their brains stronger - more neurons, better connections. These guys are getting ready to transition to independent, real life. Increasing foundational abilities is a great way to help get them ready.
