My students are an eclectic bunch. I work in the biggest city in the state with a very high poverty rate. Eighty percent of the students come from non-English speaking homes. My class is a co-teach room with 10 typical peers and 8 students with varying disabilities from grades 1-3. Most of the students with disabilities have autism. At this age, students are very visual learners. Students with autism are twice as likely as the early childhood learners to need visual cues in order to achieve success in the classroom. Giving my students the technology to access both the daily curriculum as well as books they love to read will only enhance their excitement for reading!
