I work at a charter school for kindergarten through second grade in East New York, Brooklyn. We are currently serving a demographic of African American and Latino boys from a very, very poverty-stricken area. As a result of fund raising from the local community and approval from the DOE and NYS Charter Board, we were able to open for the first time last year!
