My students are typical middle school students in every sense other than they are ESL students. They attend a school that is majority minority students. They are proud to be in the United States and want to make their parents proud of the sacrifices they have made to offer them a good education and access to opportunities that were otherwise not available. My students want to learn and want to be independent life-long learners. They want to be actively involved in their communities and have a general interest in the world around them. They are particularly interested in how they relate to others and want to be able to communicate effectively. Beyond this, they want to be fully literate and functional. They want to go to college and reach their potential.
